Adrian Mannarino got the better of Richard Gasquet on Sunday night, beating his compatriot in straight sets (6-4, 6-3) in the first round in Cincinnati. After taking the first set by breaking Gasquet on his last service game, Mannarino dominated the second to secure his victory in less than an hour and a half.
Against the Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka, Grégoire Barrère resisted somehow but lost in two sets (6-4, 7-5). If he saved a match point, the Francilien finally lost by dropping his service, when he could have forced a tie-break in the second set.
