Remedy revealed in an interview that recent Resident Evil games had an impact on Alan Wake 2.
As is well known, Remedy is taking a different path than its predecessor with Alan Wake 2. While the first part was still described as a psychological thriller, behind which an action-adventure was hidden, a real survival horror game is now being developed.
Game Director Kyle Rowle spoke to EDGE Magazine about inspiration for the game’s sequel about the writer’s block.
When asked if Resident Evil had any influence on Alan Wake, Rowle said that Capcom’s game series has good references simply because things worked there.
Rowle shared: “Camera perspective and things like that, yes, there are good references from the last few Resident Evil games that we’ve looked at. But not just because it worked for them. It’s more about how that helps us create the kind of experience we want. It’s more claustrophobic, the player feels more vulnerable, the enemies feel more physical and dangerous.”
Alan Wake 2 will be released on October 17, 2023 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
But fans of horror games don’t have to wait for news, because Alan Wake 2 was selected for the Gamescom Opening Night confirmed. On August 22nd there will probably be a new trailer to see.
