Baldur's Gate 3: Alleged Easter egg discovered in the main menu

Swen Vincke, the studio head behind Baldur’s Gate 3, is a well-known figure in the CRPG community, not least for his appearances in developer vlogs and other promos, where he often wears medieval-looking armor. This has already become something of a running gag, and one of the most famous examples comes from a 2019 commercial for the Definitive Edition of Divinity: Original Sin 2, in which Vincke, in full gear, breaks into Valve’s house to request cross-save functionality between the PC – and to implement the Switch version of the game.

As Gamerant reports, there is now an Easter Egg sighting of Vincke in his signature armor in the new Baldur’s Gate, as the 51-year-old CEO of the development studio is said to be housed in the main menu of the game. It’s easy to miss the small cameo spot that Reddit user “Acozz85” pointed out: Vincke’s character is seen as the leader of a distant group exploring a location in the game.

Vincke in Baldur’s Gate 3: Fans are sure

Although the image isn’t detailed enough to zoom in on the character’s face, many fans agree that the similarities between Vincke’s favorite look and the main menu hero are too great to be coincidental. On Reddit it is also pointed out that Vincke has apparently also accommodated himself in the character editor as a head model for face tattoos. According to the report, the cameo appearance of the studio boss is just one of many examples of Baldur’s Gate 3’s attention to detail, because the recently released role-playing hit is known to offer 17,000 ending variations, among other things.
