Barcelona partnership renewed: Camp Nou remains exclusive to eFootball

The EA restart after the FIFA split and the purchase of the La Liga naming rights recently fueled rumors that the Spotify Camp Nou could return in EA SPORTS FC 24. This is not the case, at least in the fully licensed version: FC Barcelona is renewing its partnership with Konami, so the Spanish champions’ stadium remains exclusive to eFootball.

In addition, according to the press release, the Japanese developer secured “numerous rights” with the club such as “access to players, media presence and participation in events”. The cooperation between Barça and Konami has existed since the 2016/17 season. The Catalans compete in the eFootball Championship Pro, which they recently won in regular time – losing to Bayern Munich in the semi-finals of the knockout stages.

Legend trio for the Dream Teams

“It is very exciting to announce the renewal of such a successful partnership,” said Naoki Morita, Konami Digital Entertainment BV’s European President. “FC Barcelona are truly one of the giants of world football. We are proud that, thanks to this extension, they are a part of the eFootball series now and for years to come.”

In the game, further cooperation is celebrated with an in-game campaign. Players will have the opportunity to reinforce their Dream Teams with three Blaugrana legends: Rivaldo, Patrick Kluivert and Javier Saviola. The trio of ex-pros will be available as epic cards between August 10th and 17th.

“Konami is a video game institution and will help us create new synergies with young audiences and continue to explore opportunities in digital entertainment – a key sector for our brand’s expansion in the years to come,” said Juli Guiu , Vice President Marketing at FC Barcelona.
