Into the debate about possible deliveries of Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine CDU defense expert Roderich Kiesewetter reacted with severe criticism to the statements made by his party colleague and Saxon Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer.
In an interview with “Spiegel”, Kretschmer recently warned: “I am very clearly against the delivery of cruise missiles” and added: “Do we really want to accept that German missiles could hit Russia?”
The federal government repeatedly crosses the red lines it has set itself, first with regard to the delivery of Leopard tanks, now with the cruise missiles, Kretschmer continued. “What’s next?” he asked.
Kretschmer published the same statements on Portal X, formerly Twitter. Party colleague Kiesewetter replied angrily: “After the handover, they are Ukrainian missiles! Why do you accept that Infineon chips from Saxony in Russian missiles kill Ukrainian children and destroy families? Why do you have double standards??? I am disappointed and horrified!”
Background information: Recently, research by the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” revealed that chips from the company Infineon from the Dresden plant are said to continue to be installed in Russian cruise missiles of the type Kh-101, despite sanctions.
Meanwhile, Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) is still undecided on the issue of the delivery of German Taurus missiles.
“As in the past, we will always check every single decision very carefully, what works, what makes sense, what our contribution can be,” said Scholz on Sunday in the ZDF “summer interview. This also applies to the Taurus delivery.
He did not want to be put under pressure on this issue, said Scholz, with a view to requests from home and abroad. (tsp/dpa)
