Director believes that the Ted Lasso finale hints at several possible spin-offs

College football series Ted Lasso starring Jason Sudeikis had its final episode earlier this summer. Sudeikis, who both acts and has co-written the series, has himself previously said that his character had a story that spanned just three seasons – and then that was enough. However, opens author Declan Lowney, who co-wrote the series finale, because Ted Lasso hardly requires Sudeiki’s presence to continue. On the contrary.

According to Lowney, the finale’s montage presents a whole host of threads ready to be picked up in possible spin-offs, and in an interview with AbovetheLine, he elaborated on this:

“The montage has quite a few clues there. Keeley pitching for an AFC Richmond women’s team — great timing — and that would be fantastic for her and Rebecca to run that team. Maybe they’d use Roy as a captain? Does Roy even ( want to) stay on and captain anyway? And we know Beard looks like he’s going to stay in the country because his girlfriend’s pregnant. So there are a couple of spin-offs … maybe Nate, Beard, and Roy running AFC Richmond, or the two girls running the women’s team? I’m not sure about Judge McAdoo, but you could maybe do something like (Judge Judy) called McAdoo’s Court or something like that.”
