Dortmund 1-0 Cologne
Goal: Malen (88e) for the BVB
The three points, and not much else.
Unlike the other German matches of this Saturday afternoon, particularly prolific in goals, this duel between Dortmund and Cologne was ideal to end its nap, even if the locals ended up winning the bet at the end of the game (1-0). Long insipid, the BVB comes up against an infallible opposing wall, the visitors not very interested in the idea of packing the meeting. It is all the same the guys of Steffen Baumgart who obtain the best situation of the first act: a firecracker signed Davie Selke, slightly deflected, which comes crashing on the bar of Gregor Kobel (17e). Opposite, Marvin Schwäbe unfolds like a handball goalkeeper to stop a cross shot from Julian Brandt (30e).
The return from the locker room is no more fruitful, as Edin Terzić’s men seem totally incapable of creating anything. The balance of power is even reversed over the course of the match, since Cologne finally points the tip of its nose. First on a Dejan Ljubičić missile passed not far from the Kobel cage (74e), then on a head at close range from the incoming Sargis Adamyan, boxed in extremis by the Swiss goalkeeper of the BVB (77e). But as often when nothing goes, you have to rely on set pieces, and it is on this that Dortmund ends up getting out of it: on a corner, Donyell Malen takes the ball from a half stolen and releases his team (1-0, 87e). At the end of additional time, Max Finkgräfe misses the last attempt of his team on a recovery in first intention (90e+7).
Terzić has his work cut out for him.
