The three French people best ranked in the ATP ranking will be on the trip. Adrian Mannarino (32nd), Ugo Humbert (33rd) and Arthur Fils (46th) have been selected to play in the group stage of the Davis Cup finals, which will take place from September 12 to 17 in Manchester (United Kingdom). At only 19 years old, Son – who will play the first round of Cincinnati against Humbert on Tuesday – will experience his first selection.
The captain of the Blues, Sébastien Grosjean, will also be able to rely on Nicolas Mahut and Édouard Roger-Vasselin, announced the French Tennis Federation. The latter, at 39, already in the selection in 2014 and 2016, has never played in a Davis Cup meeting.
Placed in group B after the draw, the France team will face three opponents: Australia (seeded n°1 in the group), Great Britain led by Cameron Norrie and Andy Murray, and Switzerland by Stan Wawrinka. To reach the Davis Cup finals in Malaga from November 21 to 26, the Blues will have to finish at least second.
