It is known that Rockstar has been working on GTA 6 for a long time, even if the developers have not yet published an official logo or a first teaser for the game. But now a leak has appeared that confirms how long the team has really been developing GTA 6. Another detail should also cause positive excitement among fans of the studio.
Beside Bully 2 also Bully 3 in development?
Because shortly after the publication of Take Two’s financial report, which put a possible release time window for GTA 6 in the room, the Linked-In profile of a former Rockstar employee provides information on the development time of GTA 6. Like the Reddit user KekanKok found out, Jon Young lists his tenure at Rockstar, which lasted from 2005 to 2018, in his resume on the social media platform.
What is striking is that Young claims to have worked as Lead Video Editor on Grand Theft Auto 6 between 2015 and 2018. As a result, the open-world game at Rockstar must have been in development since at least 2015, i.e. around eight years now. The start of Young’s involvement in GTA 6 coincides with the release of the PC port of GTA 5.
In addition, Young also credits Bully 2 and Bully 3 as projects he’s worked on, a small detail that’ll make Rockstar fans sit up and take notice. Because the fact that the development of Bully 2 was already quite advanced is considered sufficiently well known. But that’s the first time we’ve heard that the studio was even planning a third part of the series. Unfortunately, Rockstar scrapped the sequel to Bully, so we’ll probably never see a sequel to the school GTA.
The fact that Rockstar has been developing GTA 6 for twice as long as GTA 5 at least gives us hope that something big awaits us. Supposedly, fans can expect a release for Christmas 2024, which is why we assume that Rockstar will finally release the long-awaited announcement trailer later this year.
