“Hot Banditoz” singer Silva Gonzales suffers a heart attack and is rushed to an emergency room. He attributes the attack to his unhealthy lifestyle.

“It was dramatic, I panicked and had shortness of breath”: Silva Gonzalez (44), singer of the band “Hot Banditoz”, was hospitalized because of a heart attack. The former “jungle camp” participant is said to have had massively increased blood pressure and a pulse of 220 beats. In the clinic, the doctors finally found a tachycardia. This is a faster, sustained heart rhythm of more than 100 beats per minute that can cause symptoms such as dizziness and light-headedness. The 44-year-old attributes the attack primarily to his unhealthy lifestyle. There are various factors that can damage the heart.

When the heart races, the heart beats violently and rapidly. Doctors speak of a so-called tachycardia. In most cases, palpitations are nothing to worry about. However, it can also occur as a symptom of heart disease. Then you definitely need medical help. There are also different tachycardias, which are often categorized according to their location. In supraventricular tachycardia, the origin of the tachycardia is above the ventricles and is due to a malfunction of the ventricles. It is not considered life-threatening, but should be checked regularly by a doctor. In ventricular tachycardia, the increased heart rate originates in the ventricles. If more than three heartbeats occur in rapid succession (ventricular tachycardia), there is a risk of life-threatening ventricular fibrillation.

Many people experience tachycardia throughout the day. However, those affected are more likely to feel the rapid heart rate when they are at rest, lying down and when they are not distracted. Depending on the cause behind the tachycardia, various symptoms can also occur. The following accompanying symptoms often accompany the rapid heartbeat:

  • drowsiness
  • shortness of breath
  • sweats
  • Dizziness to the point of fainting
  • Perceptible palpitations (up to the throat, ears and head)
  • nausea
