iPhone 15: USB-C port photos leaked?

The iPhone 15 rumor mill is still cooking hard. One change to Apple’s next generation of smartphones seemed to have been in place for a long time: the switch from Lightning to USB-C. Leaked images of the same USB-C port now seem to confirm this. You can see alleged PCB components for the iPhone 15, the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. So far so good, but unfortunately the photos, if they are legitimate, do not say much about the functionality of the connections.

The Pro versions of the iPhone 15 could have better components

Originally, it was already said with the iPhone 14 that Apple would rely on USB-C – as is well known, this is not the case. For the upcoming smartphones, the company has already indicated the connection change itself and at the same time sharply criticized the EU. Apple would have liked to continue to build on its own solution, because it makes it easier to control which accessories consumers can use. However, another solution may have been found for this purpose.

Apple is reportedly planning mandatory certification for USB-C cables. In this case, the iPhone 15 could only be charged with cables confirmed by the company. However, it is questionable whether this will come about, since this would offend the EU and risk a ban on sales.

Even if all iPhone 15 models will have a USB-C port, they are probably not identical. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Max will probably only be able to transfer data at USB 2.0 speeds, while the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will use USB 3.2. All outstanding questions should soon be answered, because Apple is supposed to present its new devices to the public on September 12th.
