Larian boss Swen Vincke: Baldur's Gate 3 was just the beginning

At the beginning of the year, it was believed to have discovered the next big star in the video game sky with Hogwarts Legacy. But then came the final release of Baldur’s Gate 3 at the beginning of August, which went one better. Because at Metacritic, the score for almost 50 reviews is 96 points, while the user score is 9.2. On Steam, the proportion of the most recent positive reviews is 96 percent – so Baldur’s Gate 3 can certainly be counted among the most popular games of all time.

Larian boss still stunned and ready for more

This is also the opinion of the magazine PC Gamer, which according to its own statements has given a 97 rating for a game – Baldur’s Gate 3 – for the first time in 16 years. Larian’s CEO Swen Wincke took this test as an opportunity to publicly express his thoughts on the success. As he writes on Twitter:

“So proud of my team – none of us can believe this is really happening. But the best part about all of this is that we can keep making games like this. Yes, they’re risky and ambitious and sometimes things go wrong, but for that the studio was founded. The reception of Bg3 shows that there is a place for this type of game. I hope we get many more of them.”

There is positive feedback from the comments on Twitter, and a fellow developer from CD Projekt RED also spoke up. The Narrative Director of The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077, Philipp Weber, left his congratulations and praise for Swen Wincke and Larian Studios. If, as the CEO says, the developers succeed in releasing more games or RPGs on the level of Baldur’s Gate 3, the name Larian Studios will possibly be inseparably linked to a seal of quality among the players and also the interest of large publishers in taking over the game wake up.
