Megan Thee Stallion is officially on her own two feet. As an independent artist, she is now releasing her first album in the form of the self-titled album “Megan”. The album follows a highly successful period with the “Hot Girl Summer Tour”, which sold out Madison Square Garden, among other places. This made her the first independent rapper to sell out the legendary arena.
Her less commercial appearance is much more noticeable on the track list, as the record contains rather modest guests. However, we do get interesting collaborations with UGK, Victoria Monet and friend and colleague GloRilla.
Megan will be her third album in her career, but as mentioned, initially as an independent artist through Hot Girl Productions. In February, she signed a distribution deal with Warner Music Group, allowing her to maintain her independence after her time with 300 Entertainment and 1501 Certified. She also acquired ownership of her masters and publishing rights.
In a statement at the time, she said it was a deal that was the first of its kind.
“I hope that artists who are still on the rise or already established never get discouraged by all the obstacles that this industry brings.”She added.
In addition to the album, Megan will soon continue her European tour, with stops in Glasgow, Paris and Cologne, among others. According to the rapper himself, more dates will be added, so we can only hope for a stop in Sweden in the future.
