Mod for Baldur's Gate 3: You can also play with WASD and in third person

As a classic isometric role-playing game, Baldur’s Gate 3 is seen most of the time from above, while most of the control instructions are given with the mouse. The currently best game of the year also has good controller control, not least thanks to Steam Deck support, which already provides an alternative. However, a new WASD mod at Nexusmods now gives players the ability to roam the world of Baldur’s Gate 3 using typical keyboard movement controls.

Combined with the “Native Camera Tweaks” mod, which is also available for download there, the camera perspective can also be adjusted beyond the usual extent, which enables a third-person gaming experience like in many MMOs or role-playing classics such as Mass Effect, Dragon Age or KotOR. You can get an impression of the whole thing and a better look at the chic game graphics in the video below.

According to PC Gamer, the alternate controls and perspective seem to work flawlessly, allowing you to navigate the third-person action with the keyboard but still interact with the mouse. Whenever you want, you can simply zoom back into the isometric view and take control of the characters here, which, thanks to the mods, combines both principles.

Baldur’s Gate 3 even better with mods

Developer studio boss Sven Wincke recently announced that mod support for Baldur’s Gate 3 will “improve dramatically” after the release of the PS5 version in September. Meanwhile, there are already a number of useful or entertaining modifications to the game, including mods for difficulty, DLSS or The WItcher.
