Next shock for Real: Cruciate ligament rupture also at Eder Militao

The serious injury to first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has already hit Real Madrid to the core, the Belgian tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during training last Thursday. Andriy Lunin was between the posts in the La Liga opener in Bilbao, which Real Madrid won 2-0 thanks to a goal from Jude Bellingham. In the long run, however, Kepa Courtois should replace, the Spaniard comes from Chelsea.

It is not unlikely that Real will now also have to look for a new central defender. Eder Militao was injured in a tackle with Sancet early in the second half and had to leave the field – Antonio Rüdiger replaced the Brazilian. As the royal announced on Sunday afternoon, the 25-year-old also suffered a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. “The player will undergo an operation in the coming days,” continued the Spanish record champions.

Militao will therefore be out for months, and in addition to Rüdiger, Real only has Nacho as a potential replacement in central defense – so it is quite possible that the royal team will add personnel to this position.

Militao has been wearing Real Madrid’s shirt since 2019, since then he has made 128 appearances in all competitions, scoring eight goals.
