Nick Kyrgios, quarter-finalist last year, withdrawal from the US Open

Australian Nick Kyrgios, who continues to recover from ankle and wrist injuries, has withdrawn from the US Open (August 28 – September 10), tournament organizers announced on Thursday. The 28-year-old, still 92nd in the world, reached the quarter-finals of the American Grand Slam last year, after beating Russian Daniil Medvedev in the round of 16.

Hampered by injuries for months (knee, foot, wrist…), Nick Kyrgios has only played one match this season, a defeat in two sets against the Chinese Wu Yibing (7-5, 6-3 ) in June, in the first round of the Stuttgart Open. He had already missed the last three Grand Slam tournaments.
