The Italian championship loses an icon.
Former central defender who became the record holder for the number of benches in Serie A as a coach (792 games between 1974 and 2006, and even 797 if we count the play-offs), Carlo Mazzone died at the age of 86. He is particularly known for having launched, as a professional, the legend Francesco Totti – with whom he will keep a special bond – when he coached Roma (1993-1996). He also had under his tutelage at Brescia Andrea Pirlo, Roberto Baggio or even Pep Guardiola, and passed on the benches of Fiorentina, Napoli or Cagliari, among others.
