Situation solved: Hertha lends Kanga to Belgium

As the second division club announced on Monday, Wilfried Kanga will be loaned out to the Belgian first division club Standard Liège for one season. The capitals have thus provided clarity in this personnel, after it recently became apparent that the future of the 25-year-old will not lie in Berlin. The Ivory Coast international wanted to force his move and was even transferred to the U23s. So now the move abroad.

“We have been in close contact with the player and his agent over the past few days in order to solve the situation. We managed to do that with the loan and we wish Wilfried every success for the upcoming task in Belgium,” said sports director Benjamin Weber in one message quoted.

Like the Berliners, Standard Liège is supported by the US company “777 Partners” – and also started the season with zero points from two games.

Kanga came to Berlin from Young Boys Bern just a year ago, had played 23 Bundesliga games and scored two goals.
