Starfield is eagerly awaited by many RPG fans. On the technical side, however, the release is overshadowed by the problem that, according to a data miner, there are no traces of Nvidia’s DLSS or Intel’s XeSS in the preload files. But reports are already coming in that a modder will come to the rescue here.
Like the modder PureDark confirmed, he wants to deliver Nvidia DLSS 2 and DLSS 3 in time for the start of Starfield. The modification means that both RTX 40 owners (DLSS 3) and all other RTX GPU owners (DLSS 2) can enjoy Nvidia’s AI-supported graphics technology. PureDark announced that support for DLSS 3 will be available as early as the Early Access phase, which begins on September 1st. Especially since he already has a test sample of the game. DLSS 2 should then also be available via mod for the official release on September 6th.
Background on the cooperation between Bethesda and AMD
Months ago, Bethesda announced an exclusive PC partnership with AMD. This partnership aims to deliver specific optimizations for AMD Ryzen CPUs and Radeon GPUs. In addition, there is AMD upscaling technology FSR2, which works with all GPUs. However, according to all recent reports, Nvidia users have no official support for their DLSS 2 and DLSS 3 upscaling technologies, which is superior to AMD’s technology. So many DLSS-enabled GPUs aren’t able to use the full potential of their GPU, even though the technology would be relatively easy for Bethesda to integrate into the game.
