Andy Murray withdrew from the Cincinnati Masters 1000 late Monday afternoon. The Briton is not sufficiently recovered from an abdominal strain which had already forced him to forfeit in Toronto last week.
Murray, 36, had to forfeit his round of 16 tie against eventual champion Jannik Sinner because of the injury he picked up after spending nearly five hours on court in his wins over Lorenzo Sonego and Max Purcell.
The three-time Grand Slam champion and former world No. governing body of men’s tennis.
Murray, currently world number 36 – his highest ranking since undergoing hip resurfacing surgery in 2019 – was recently recalled to Britain’s Davis Cup squad for group stage matches after the US Open.
