Central Moscow was hit again by a Ukrainian drone, causing an explosion, although Russian air defenses claimed to have shot it down earlier. As reported by the Kyiv Post, after changing its trajectory, the drone crashed into a non-residential building in the Krasnopresnenskaya embankment area in Moscow. Despite the incident, according to the Moscow mayor, there were no injuries. The drone damaged part of the Expo Center pavilion, collapsing a wall of about 30 square meters.
Another important detail that the Kyiv Post mentions is that this venue is in close proximity to Moscow-City, a major business district that has been hit by debris from drone-induced explosions twice already this month. Commenting on the increasing frequency of such incidents, Wall Street Journal journalist Yaroslav Trofimov said: “The unthinkable has become routine.”
Kyiv warned Muscovites of further attacks
According to the Kyiv Post, Ukraine has so far not claimed responsibility for the drone attack. However, Kiev had warned Moscow residents of further attacks, stressing that Russian air defenses appeared unable to protect their citizens from such drone strikes. Andriy Yusov, a spokesman for Ukraine’s military intelligence service, also told the Kyiv Post that security for Moscow residents is becoming increasingly uncertain.
Recently, Russia announced that it had prevented a drone attack by Ukraine on its warships in the Black Sea. This took place in the hotspot waterway, with the drone being destroyed before it reached its destination, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
