Ukraine troops on the rise: Russians deny

Soldiers in the Ukraine War

Ukrainian troops advanced in at least two areas of the Eastern Front on August 13. The Institute for War Research (ISW) reports that the armed forces were moving in the western part of Donetsk Oblast and in both parts of Zaporizhia Oblast.

According to ISW, citing the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Ukrainian troops were conducting offensive actions in the Berdyansk and Melitopol front areas. They are said to have had partial success near Robotyne, which is located in the western part of Zaporizhia Oblast and 13 km south of Orichiv.

Unclear situation in Uroshaine

Regarding the current status of Russian troops, there are conflicting reports. Ukrainska Pravda reports that on August 12, several Russian sources said they had withdrawn their forces from the village of Uroschaine, located on the border of Donetsk and Zaporizhia oblasts. But a day later, on August 13, many of these Russian sources denied this information. They emphasized that Russian troops would still occupy the southern part of Uroshaine.

The ISW states that they cannot definitively confirm whether the Russian occupiers have completely withdrawn from Uroshaine. However, according to Ukrainska Pravda, the ISW considers it likely that “Russian forces will take up positions at least in the southern part of the settlement”.
