The developers of Wayfinder probably had imagined it completely differently. Before the release, the action RPG caused quite a stir, was able to accumulate 65,000 followers on Steam and fought its way up to 24th place in the wish list charts. Then the early access launch had to be pushed back from August 15th to August 17th to take care of some final issues. Still, Wayfinder didn’t fare well after the release. Only 35 percent the last reviews are positive.
A lot of interest ahead of the release of the action RPG
Wayfinder is an online game that is described by the developers as a “Character-Based Online Action RPG”. Players must work together in dungeons, which they can customize to a certain extent. For example, users can choose which beasts they want to hunt and which bosses they want to fight. Also, players can decide which other wayfinders they want to summon.
However, server problems seem to thwart the online fun. The places on the servers should be very limited. A player writes that he was put in a queue of 107 minutes when the game started. Some users claim that they couldn’t log in at all after launching it. On the other hand, there are players who look at the problem more calmly. It is a game in Early Access and such difficulties are normal. However, the game world is great and would be reminiscent of a slower Warframe than a fantasy title.
Wayfinder currently has a rating of “Mostly Negative” on Steam. Only around 35 percent of the last reviews were positive (as of August 18, 2023, 3:30 p.m.). Nevertheless, the title has solid player numbers. At the wedding, more than 11,000 players were online in the Early Access game at the same time. In addition, Wayfinder made it to number 3 of the top sellers on Steam.
